wall art

This is, by far, the cheapest, fastest craft i've ever done. It also happens to be my mom's favorite which is why I hung it in her kitchen.

These are toilet paper and paper towel tubes cut into slices, and glued together. That's it, people.

paper cloth

this would take far too much step by step explaining. basically, you combine fabric and paper with a 1:2 ratio of water to tacky glue and then get creative.
this is a columbine and harlequin pic that i found on google images and printed. the diamonds are pieces of fabric from a clown costume i had as a baby. i also used tissue paper, embroidery floss, and crayola washable peach paint.

fabric + paper = bird

Paper Doll Window Treatment

This is my idea of some cheap "bling", if you will, for empty dorm windows. A throw back to my childhood! Hot glue your old paper dolls (or new ones you print off the internet) to a lonnnng strand of thread.

I added these little book beads in between my dolls... for interest. It's simply 5 quarter-sized pieces of paper folded and glued to make a "bead".

Pretty easy, right? All it costs is the paper you use for printing more dolls... or clothes! :D

thanks, edison.

i took this lightbulb out of the basement bathroom. don't tell my mom.

first, gut your lightbulb. this is messier than i thought it would be, so be careful.

ok, next make one or two little hearts out of craft wire.

for the base, i used a wooden building block, and covered it in fabric. hot glue the light bulb upright and add your own decoraions! yay.

DIY, people. DIY.

So, I'm not really the "blogging" type. Good first sentence of a first post, isnt't it...? I set up this puppy, not because I'm a blogger, but because I'm a crafter. Yeah, yeah, I've already accepted my status as a weirdo. I just love to make stuff!
So, here's the plan. I'm creating my appartment bedroom for the fall from the ground up. I am not planning on buying anything decorative, and as few functional things as possible. Making it all from scratch. Documenting all of this on here will let me spread my crafty feathers a little bit, and keep track of costs to see if this turns out to be a successful, low budget, project.
So, without further ado, here is my first craft:

Fairy lights.
Materials:
1 strand of christmas lights from the attic - Free
4 or 5 egg cartons- Free

I cut out the center section of an egg carton to make individual little shades for a strand of Christmas lights. The desired effect is for it to look like a vine of flower lights. I'll probably put these aound my closet doors.

You gotta try this!

Happy crafting!
