shoe shade

so i have about a trillion old point shoes. i always wondered what to do with them until my mom gave me a bell-shaed lampshade.

i painted the shoes a slightly metalic champagne, then used a rag to apply an "antique gold" to them. i hotglued them to the shade, and voila!

i suggest energy saver bulbs. they won't get hot (fire hazard) and they'll minimize they old shoe stink!!

welcome, girls.

ladies and gentlemen,
please extend a warm welcome to our guest crafters. these girls are attending the joffrey south summer intensive for dance. this is an extension of my entry about the paint chips from lowes. these girls used them to cover tiny, $1.00 journals. so adorable!

Thanks, Lowes

It wasn't until recently that I realized that those little paint shade cards at the hardware store are actually FREE CRAFT PAPER. Thanks for supporting local artists, Lowes.

tricky tricky...

here's one that i have seen on several artsy blogs, so i'm not sure where the idea started. this is far from original and i have no idea to whom i owe the credit.
the floating bookshelf.

use an "L" bracket from the hardware dept. of lowe's. scope yard sales and your mom's shelf for books of character, interesting titles or age. get to it!

busy day in craftworld.

believe it or not, the craft world is OBSESSED with this new little crafter's indulgence. it's so simple, so cute and SO utterly useless! go figure!

when i first saw a moss terrarium on another crafting blog i thought, "huh. that's dumb. won't be doing THAT project."
well, i caved. and now i'm obsessed too!

sidenote: the branch in the background is covered with flowers made from spirals of construction paper. thanks, marthastewart.com

it's supposed to be unusual.

so, i took a board off a pickett fence that surrounds a house in my neighborhood. don't worry, the house is completely empty and no one has lived there for several years.
i totally stole the wax-covered candle holder idea from katy carr's rehearsal dinner so....word, katy.

eventually it will hang on the wall. oh, and i'm not going to burn the candles that close to the wall. it's just for looks :)
